What Should I Read Next?

Every once in a while I will have someone in a church ask me about a book recommendation. Being an avid reader I have numerous favorite books and yet I realize that people’s reading tastes can be quite varied. I am also a bit of a collector of reading lists. So what I have put together is a list of 10 books that can be a starting place for the well-read Christian. If you are a reader my guess is that will have read some or all of these. And being only 10 books many, many books have to be left out. These are not necessarily my favorite books and are not put in any particular order. However, these titles will be a good place for any interested party to begin.

1. Mere Christianity, C. S. Lewis

2. Total Truth, Nancy Pearcey

3. Can Man Live Without God? Ravi Zacharias

4. The Knowledge of the Holy, A. W. Tozer

5. How to Read the Bible for All It’s Worth, Douglas Stuart and Gordon Fee

6. Screwtape Letters, C. S. Lewis

7. The Pursuit of God, A.W. Tozer

8. Celebration of Discipline, Richard Foster

9. Desiring God, John Piper

10. The Cost of Discipleship, Dietrich Bonhoeffer

You will notice there is no biography, history, literature, mission, devotional, political, etc., titles on this list. I find it very difficult to choose simply 10 books. Maybe in the days ahead I will work on a much longer list. That will be a lot of fun. But for now, happy reading!
