Steve Bailey has been a Delaware resident since age six. He grew up in the city of Wilmington, graduated from Salesianum High School, and attended the University of Delaware. From the seventh grade throughout college Steve studied the French language and became so proficient that he was able to lead a work team of French-speaking natives during his trip to Gabon, West Africa in 1991. During that time a work team made up of volunteers from the USA and French-speaking natives built a maternity ward for the Bongolo Hospital. After returning from the short missions trip to Africa, Steve resumed his job at W.L. Gore & Associates and has been employed there for 25 years.
Steve has been a Sunday School teacher, Youth leader, Elder and treasurer since his commitment to Jesus at age 16. Steve has the gift of teaching and loves to share God’s word, especially with young people. Steve and his wife of 26 years, Laurie, have raised two girls and one boy. All five of them, and a cat named Princess Lily, live in Bear, DE.
